From The Service Team at Deery Brothers JEEP of Waukee, Iowa: Here's a step-by-step guide to installing a Start/Stop Eliminator on your Jeep. This guide assumes you're using a plug-and-play eliminator like the Autostop Eliminator, which is one of the most popular and reliable options. Click Here to purchase.

🔧 Tools & Materials Needed

  • Start/Stop Eliminator module (make sure it matches your exact Jeep model/year)
  • Trim removal tool or flathead screwdriver (optional, but helpful)
  • Flashlight (optional)

✅ Compatibility Check

Before installation, confirm:

  • Your Jeep model and year are supported by the module (Wrangler JL, Gladiator JT, Grand Cherokee WK2, etc.)
  • The module is designed specifically for your vehicle's Start/Stop system—not a universal one

🚗 Installation Instructions (Autostop Eliminator – Wrangler JL/Gladiator JT Exampl

1. Turn Off the Jeep

  • Make sure the engine is off and the keys are removed.
  • For push-button start models, turn off the ignition fully (don’t leave it in accessory mode).

2. Access the Dash Panel

  • Locate the Start/Stop button panel—this is the section of the dash that contains the “A” button.
  • Use a trim tool or your fingers to gently pull the panel outward from the edges.
  • It pops off with light pressure—don’t force it.

3. Unplug the OEM Harness

  • Behind the panel, find the connector attached to the Start/Stop button module.
  • Press the release tab and disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the switch assembly.

4. Install the Eliminator

  • Plug the Start/Stop Eliminator module into the factory wiring harness.
  • Then plug the other end of the eliminator into the back of the Start/Stop button.

✅ It’s essentially a "Y" connection—your new module sits between the factory harness and the original button.

5. Tuck and Close

  • Tuck the wiring and module securely into the dash so it doesn't rattle or interfere with anything.
  • Snap the dash panel back into place carefully, pressing evenly until it's flush.

6. Test It Out

  • Start your Jeep.
  • The “A” light should automatically turn off without you pressing anything.
  • The system will now remember your preference permanently—even after shutdowns or battery disconnects.

🧼 Optional Tips

  • Keep the original packaging in case you want to uninstall later.
  • These devices don’t affect your warranty, but if you go in for service, you can easily unplug it beforehand.

🧠 Done!

Your Jeep will now start with Auto Start/Stop OFF by default, and you can still manually turn it back on anytime with the dashboard button.

Jeep® Service Tips to Help Fuel Efficiency

Getting the most out of every tank of gas starts long before you pull up to the pump. Routine Jeep® service is one of the most effective tools you have for protecting fuel economy over the life of your vehicle. Our experts at Deery Brothers Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Waukee have put together a few practical tips to help your SUV run at its best. more Use the Right Motor Oil Every Jeep SUV engine is engineered to perform with a specific oil viscosity. Running the wrong weight can force the engine to work harder against internal friction, which quietly chips away at efficiency over time. Using Mopar®-approved oil during every service interval ensures your engine operates exactly as designed. Inspect and Replace Spark Plugs on Schedule Worn spark plugs lead to incomplete combustion, meaning your engine burns more fuel to produce the same amount of power. Most drivers don’t notice the gradual performance drop until it has already cost them at the pump. A routine Jeep service visit is the right time to have your plugs inspected and replaced before inefficiency sets in. Monitor Wheel Alignment Misaligned wheels create uneven tire wear and increased rolling resistance, both of which put extra demand on your drivetrain. Iowa roads take a toll on suspension components over time, making alignment checks a worthwhile part of your regular service routine. Correcting alignment issues early keeps your Jeep SUV tracking straight and running efficiently. Schedule Jeep Service in Waukee, IA Consistent maintenance is the most reliable path to long-term fuel savings. Each of these fixes is straightforward when caught early, and they add up to real results at the pump. Schedule your next appointment at our Jeep service center in Waukee, IA and keep your vehicle performing at its peak.
